How To Choose Lure Colors

I have been asked at a lot of seminars on how to choose the right color to throw. I guess the best way is to put the colors in two classes; either attract or look natural to understand how to choose lure colors correctly.

Attracting colors that always come to mind are chartreuse, yellow, white, bright red, and bright orange colors. They may not suggest something actual prey species, but the Bass Hogs will eat up. I would say that it depends on the color of the water that would stand out and attract the Bass Hog, so I am telling you that if the water is stained or muddy or the big boy or girl is hiding in tight cover, use the bright colors.

How To Choose Lure ColorsNatural Colors would be the prey that is living in the lake and we know that the Bass hogs are feeding on them. Colors would include Silver, Gold, brown, blue, dark purple/black/or Green Pumpkin. Most of these are going to be in the soft plastic example: Lizard, Worm, Jerk Bait.

The Natural colors are going to work better when there is little stain to the water or maybe a bright sunny day. They are also considered to be a bait to use when the bass are biting slow, or the lake has a lot of heavy pressure on it.

Now I have explained that to you; I will throw this in as a kicker. You can also adjust the colors just a little that will pertain to attracting colors and Natural colors by adding a dye. What I am talking about is the (Chartreuse Dip It). Try dipping the tail of the Lizard/Worm/Jerk Bait and see if it does not make a big difference.

This is just a few more of my ideas that I have tried and proven to work for me and I know that they will work for you.
