Crappi Candle Rig

crappi candle rig for bass fishingReady to try something that hit the lakes a few years back for the first time? Some of us felt lucky to get in on the action back then by running across this unique bait rig.

I felt the same way and man, the fish action created by this fishing product was SWEET!

And for 2009,  the Crappi Candle has a new look and even more important is the small feature added that is designed to help attract even more fish.

As you may see Garland Jones has been busy in Texas this winter on Improving the Crappi Candle. This will help you triple the amount of fish you catch this spring, and if you notice real close, you'll see the new feature he has added is a compressed sponge right under the eye.

Update: There is now an additional Crappi Candle model that comes equipped with a green light that you can order below

Add a few drops of your favorite fish attractant on the sponge and watch it expand.

Now press down until 1/16 gap let above the cap. The sponge will release theattractant in the area you are fishing to draw even more interest to this area.

We all know that the light will attract bait fish, and then the big fish will be drawnin, and with the attractant on the sponge you will triple your chance in filling yourfreezer.

The Great News Is Both New Crappi Candle Models Are Available Below For Purchase

Personally knowing how good this product performs, I wanted to share with you how to create the Crappi Candle Rig. I'll touch base below on the rigging of the new and the old crappi candle models.

rigging crappi candle bass fishingBasic Fishing Equipment Used:

Float, Crappie Candle, Battery, Jig head and body, Swivel, bead, rubber band

Rod/Pole: Spinning Rod 6 1/2 to 7 Foot or Jig Pole

Line: 8#-10#-12# 6# Monifilament

To Start Off Preparing the Crappi Candle Rig:

If you have a slip float, put it on your line at this time then slip your main line under the wire ties of the Crappi Candle to the swivel. If you are using a jig pole, the Float is not required. Tie it on the swivel then below the swivel is where the small line with your jig comes into play.

If for some reason you get hung up, you will only lose your jig and not the whole rig using the light line.

Rigging The New Crappi Candle Model:

The Rigging is just about the same as the older model discussed below:

Thread main line through the eye on top of the tube cap then under the rubber band.

Tie on a swivel as before, then attachyour leader. Make sure that the leader is a lighter pound test. This is just in caseyou get hung up or a monster should break your line; that way you will not losethe Crappi Candle.

All you have to do is tie on a new leader that you should already have made up, and back to fishing.

The swivel that I use is a ball bearing swivel because this will eliminate your line from twisting.

Set the light at the desired height above your bait (minnow) (worm) or Lure.

Lower it into the water and all I can tell you from here is hold on for dear life the action is about to begin.

Rigging the Older Crappi Candle Model:

My 3 Recommended Ways

  1. Make a leader of your desired length from line that is smaller diameter from the main line. That is why if you look at the line I listed above I have set off to the side the 6# line. Tie the leader on to the main line at the swivel this will act as a stop for the Crappi Candle.
  2. Same as (1) but you can either glue a bead above and below the light to keep it stationary rather than lettting it slide along the line. This will allow you to use a weight for faster drop.
  3. Use the main line only threading the line through the light up to the desired length and gluing stop bead to the line or use a small split shot for the light stop. I like to instead of gluing the bead will take a bead and run a rubber band through the bead then double it and trim off the excess. This way I can adjust the depth just by moving the bead.

This is a revolution fishing light that enables the light to illuminate the bait at the depth the fish are holding in the water. Other fishing lights only light up the surface and a small portion under the surface.

The Crappi Candle allows fish to use their exceptional sense of sight at any depth. It has been tested at 110 feet and was effective. The Crappi Candle runs on a 23a battery (NStyle) and last up to 14 hours.

The unit is totally water proof when the cap is pressed in completely.

I did a show in Nashville last year and a lot of people said "Hey, that would be good for night fishing".

Let me tell you now the Crappi Candle is not only good for night fishing but some of the lakes I go to the water clarity it not the best during the day and this light has helped light up the bait even during the day.

Stop and think for a moment. Some of the lakes that you fish get dark about 6 feet down. What do you think the fish that was swimming by would do if it saw a night crawler, Jig, or minnow under the light, if fact what about a hunk of liver (catfishing).

I think it would mean a lot more action for you and more fish on the table.

Keep in mind this crappie rig can only be used for still fishing and not trolling, but you will see that it is the best thing to hit the market.

Another great thing about the tackle, the Crappi Candle is not just for crappie.

It can also be used for bass, catfish, bream, trout and even saltwater fishing.

Make sure you order your Crappi Candles and extra batteries below before the fish start biting, and you will be two steps in front of your buddies. Make sure to tell them that you can get your Crappi Candles at www.basshogfishing.com or www.crappieslabfishing.com , and send me some pictures of all the fish that I know you will catch.
