MOJO Weights - One of the Best Kept
Bass Fishing Secrets
I know what you are thinking already; "OH NO"
another weight article, but this is one
that must get out of the bag.
MOJO weights have been around since 1984 in
Southern California and started in a garage as many of
the lure companies do. As you can see already that this MOJO weight company has
been around and you ask yourself, "Why have I not heard about it".
MOJO weights had the Moxy to Thrive for over 23
years thanks to Larry Glavinich and his family.
In the early years MOJO owner Larry Glavinich
and family saw a real slow growth in the company, due to having
no financial backers in place to help pay for expensive
advertising cost to promote the product on a Regional or National
Level.
To make matters worse, the MOJO
Lure Company had one of the worst problems
imaginable. The Professional Bass fishermen and Ladies who came to rely on the
MOJO RIG to win tournaments and to financially-support their careers and
families, "THEY KEPT THE MOJO RIG A SECRET".
I know this for a fact.
When I used to visit Sportsmans Warehouse, I saw
a Pro drop his daughter off to go inside to buy
the MOJO RIG so no one saw him buy it, and to this day, he will not admit
using the RIG to win some of his Tournaments.
When I found out about MOJO weights, I called
Larry Glavinich in California to see about getting them to the Southern States
to show the guys here what the weights can do.
Larry was hard headed for about a year until I
finally talked him into letting me Demonstrate MOJO Weights at
Sportsman Warehouse on a Saturday while they had a special going
on.
This was a last to the
minute thing, but Larry pulled it off and shipped in
the weights for me to show the customers. Needless to say it was a great big
hit and the store wanted to start stocking the items, seeing I almost sold
everyone of them.
This was the beginning of a family thing, I became a
PROStaff for MOJO weights and had the idea to show it at four fishing shows
starting in January in Nashville.
The Nashville show was bigger than I could have
imagined. I had folks five or six deep at the booth.
I would take them back to
the stocked trout pond to show them what I was
saying was not just to get them to buy the product, but to show them the
MOJO Weights worked. A person working at another booth at
the show later wrote an article on MOJO and the Nashville
showing stating that he never saw the MOJO booth when it did not have a
crowd 5 or 6 deep.
I showed them in Little Rock and Memphis, Tn. That is when one of
our greats showed up after hearing about MOJO Weights from a friend that
Had seen the demonstration the day before. None other than BILL DANCE himself checked out
the MOJO weights. I demonstrated to BILL
a few of the weights and he loaded up on them. He
made the comment like many others "I Know Where To Use this
system".
The next to the last show was the BassMasters
Classic in Alabama. Here is where I finally got to meet Larry
Glavinich. In fact, I picked him up
at the airport. Do you know how hard it is to pick
someone up at the airport that you have never seen?
The classic was great for MOJO. We saw about
every Pro that came by the booth
purchase some weights and that let the cat out of the
bag; they could not hide no more.
The last show was at the FLW in Hot Springs,
Arkansas and here again everyone wanted to try the weights. Berkley had a tank
sat up and wanted to demo the rig in the tank.
I had a guy at the booth tell me if the fish hit
the rig like I said they would, he would buy five of them. Well, they
took the rig to the tank and the
Bass were not hitting anything until the Berkley Rep
threw in the MOJO RIG and I believe every bass hit the rig.
I guess seeing is the best tool to sell the
product. I did sell that guy not only five but his buddy
also bought five.
As you can see, once you see and try this product; we do not
have to show it anymore. The
product will sell itself. Here again, we did a good show
and I think a lot of the southern
folks got the message.
I will go through a few of the weights that I
have pictures of and explain a
little about them.
Rock
Hopper:
The Mojo Rock Hopper is used for dragging
your rig through rocks and brush bottoms.
Try using a bullet weight and see if you do not
loose your rig.
The Rock Hopper may not look like a lot of
technology has gone into it, but don't let
that fool you. It is computer engineered and full of
scientific leverage principles to survive the worst snags.
If you look at the picture where the weight has
gotten in the rocks, well all you have to do is pop the
line and the weight will flip out of the rocks.
Carolina
Slider:
For the ultimate in snag free
Carolina rigging, the Mojo Carolina Slider is designed to
pull off the soft wire insert before your
line breaks when snagged to save your rig, hook and
lure. Put on a new wire and sinker and you can be back in the water in
seconds.
This could mean either winning a tournament or placing
second.
The Slip
Shot:
Awesome for unloading those long distance
Carolina casts and getting into the strike zone fast on deep
water structure.
The Mojo Slip Shots' cylinder shape can often
get your rig through rough terrain that would
stop bulkier Carolina sinkers dead in their
tracks.
How about the Rig
Saver:
The choice for light line dropshot fishing on
any type bottom. The swivel clips on the line
securely without a knot.
I have seen and used a lot of the other pineapple clips
on the market and you have to tie a knot in them.
Most of the time; the pineapple clip cuts your
line.
The MOJO pineapple clips will not cut
your line and they more or less just snap on without a
knot.
MOJO'S long cylinder
shape can often get your rig through rough terrain
that would stop bulkier drop shot sinkers dead in their tracks.
The Pineapple Down
Shot:
That brings us to the best MOJO sinker for
thick grass and dense vegetation, Mojo Pineapple Down Shot It is also
ideal to vertical fish straight down in
the crowns of flooded trees and underwater brush
piles.
Drop it straight through
to reach fish suspended beneath limbs and hunkered
down at the shady base of tree trunks, brush roots and vegetation
stalks.

The DropShot: For the
Ultimate in snag free drop shot rigging
The Mojo Dream Drop Shot Sinker and the
wire are designed to release off the line under
pressure before your line breaks when snagged; saving
your rig, hook and lure.
Re-Rig another sinker and you can be back in the water
in seconds. I got to admit this is the answer to any dropshotter's
Dream.
Now that I have let the secret
out, pick some up and see if I am right.
I already know that
you will be ordering more, and don't keep it
to yourself. Let your
buddies know why you are catching so many
fish.
If you ever run into Hank Parker ask him what he
thinks of MOJO Weights and get a picture of his face when
you say that. He will know that the cat is out of the bag
now.
