Was The Largemouth Bass Record
Broken
Attention all anglers, This was posted by
Bobby Cleveland on the Jackson Clarion-Ledger Website.
Espn/Bass is reporting on their
website that it could be possibly the largest Largemouth
Bass ever caught recently taken from Lake Biwa in JAPAN.
The fish, was taken by Manabu Kurita, and it is reported to
weigh on a certified scale at 10.12 Kilograms or slightly
under 22 pounds, 5 Ounces.
This would bring the 77 year old record set by George Perry
fish that weighed at 22 pounds, 4 ounces, and was caught in
Georgia.
Through Kurita's fish would be just a tad bigger, it would
only be recognized as a tie because of the rules set by the
International Game and Fish Association. They state
that for a fish to be considered to break any existing
record under 25 pounds by at least two ounces.
So my thought on this would be that it matches an existing
record and does not exceed by less than the amount required
to defeat the standing record it should be considered a tie
and the IGFA Agrees.
I have attached the picture so you can drool all over your
keyboard as you read this article and do just what I am
doing wishing it was me smiling in the picture here at
Basshogfishing.com.
What do you think about the 2 ounce rule? Did Manabu Kurita
break the Largemouth Bass record or just tie it?
Keep The Hooks Wet!
